Hippocampus
Added March 17, 2026
Your AI agents forget between sessions. Hippocampus synthesizes a rolling briefing from daily notes and injects it automatically. Free, open source.
Overview
Hippocampus is a free, open-source OpenClaw plugin that gives your AI agents working memory between sessions. It reads daily notes from memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md files, synthesizes a rolling 14-day briefing (HIPPOCAMPUS.md), and injects it into every new session automatically via prependSystemContext. This three-layer memory system — daily notes, rolling synthesis, and permanent MEMORY.md — ensures your agents wake up knowing what happened yesterday instead of starting blank. Zero config required for single agents; full customization available for multi-agent fleets.
When to Use Hippocampus
Use Hippocampus when you want to:
- Give your OpenClaw agents memory between sessions without manual re-briefing
- Maintain context across days, weeks, and months of work
- Track open threads, commitments, and recent session history automatically
- Keep a concise 14-day rolling briefing (3,000-5,000 chars) that fits in context windows
- Distinguish between temporary rolling memory (HIPPOCAMPUS.md) and permanent facts (MEMORY.md)
- Run single agents with zero config or customize synthesis for multi-agent fleets
